Return & Warranty Policy
The Iron & Wood Company takes great pride in the natural beauty of our handcrafted furniture. It's important to understand that wood is a natural material that can react to the environment that its in. These environmental factors include temperature, sunlight, and humidity levels. These factors can occasionally cause natural variations, such as warping, cracking, bowing, or even splitting.
We stand by the quality of our work. Should you experience any issues due to defects in workmanship or materials, we will work with you to resolve the matter for up to one year from the delivery date.
Warranty Details:
- Our warranty covers defects in craftsmanship and materials up to one year from the delivery date.
- We may request photos in the event of a defect. We will carefully examine the photos to determine whether a repair or replacement is necessary.
- We cannot provide our warranty for any cracks or wood movement problems caused by inconsistent humidity levels in your home.
Please note that warranties are valid when products are used for their intended purposes and show normal wear and tear. If you notice minor imperfections such as dents or scratches, feel free to reach out to us for guidance on how to address them.
Wood Movement & Humidity:
Wood naturally strives to achieve equilibrium moisture content (EMC), which is the moisture level that matches its surrounding environment. Until wood reaches this equilibrium, it will continue to expand or contract. Temperature and humidity fluctuations directly influence the moisture content in the wood, contributing to its natural movement.
As the environment's temperature and humidity change, the wood will adjust its moisture levels, causing it to expand or contract. This is a normal process that is influenced by the surrounding conditions, and the wood will eventually stabilize once it reaches EMC.
This is why it is important to maintain a consistent humidity level. We recommend maintaining a consistent humidity level around 30-40% with a humidifier. Failure to do so may result in major wood movement, such as cracks or splits, which we do not cover under our warranty.
Maintenance Instructions:
To maintain the quality and longevity of our wood products adhere to the following wood care practices:
- Surface protection: Use coasters, placemats, or other protective barriers to prevent direct contact between hot, cold, or wet items and the wood surface. This measure will help avoid moisture-related issues and potential damage.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to wood fading, drying, and potential movement issues. Position your wood projects away from direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce exposure.
- Address spills immediately: Wipe up any spills promptly to prevent moisture from penetrating the wood and causing potential warping or cracking.
- Use appropriate cleaning products: Choose mild, wood-safe cleaning solutions to clean your wood surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the wood or compromise the finish.
Please reach out to us for more information on proper maintenance and care.
